It has been an amazing journey with Lavern over the past twelve years, and she has been an integral part of the homelessness work through many transitions – from the office in Tooting, to Old Street and lastly City Road where we have been for seven years.
Lavern began volunteering at Two Step to use her time and give something back in 2001, since then completing the London Marathon AND the Loch Ness Marathon to raise funds for HOPE worldwide, and co-ordinated the Moving On mentoring programme for many years.
She was awarded the “Heart of HOPE” award (following in the illustrious footsteps of Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa!) in 2005, and has achieved a BSc with Honours in Integrative Counselling, putting her skills to very good use with both two Step and ODAAT clients.
Lavern can definitely not be replaced, but leaves HOPE with the greatest admiration and gratitude of all the staff, volunteers and clients whose lives she has touched since 2001. We wish you all the very best for the future, Lavern.
Lavern wishes to say a big thank you to all the volunteers, for giving off your time. She wishes to let people know about the huge impact it has had in the lives of those clients who came through the mentoring programme.
Lavern hopes to pursue her Masters in Counselling and is looking for God’s guidance with her future career utilising her passion and skills in helping others.
